19 Dec 2005: The community center cum village school is 95% done and utilizable. Some finishing works and furniture equipments is now undergoing. Thanks to matching support from The People of New Orleans through APAS (Asia Pacific American Society) of New Orleans, Louisiana.


Jerry Kokoshka of New Jersey, and Pak Abu, the village head, accompanied by Sylvia Agustina, the architect designing the center, officially opened the center on Dec 19, 2005.



Two villagers, Halim (left) who lost his wife and all five children, and Pak Ismail (right, with cap) who lost wife and children, shared joyous moment of the center opening ceremony. The center is build on the site of previous two-story village school where about 300 villagers vanished by the tsunami. The center is a special monument in itself for the villagers.
